What are the benefits of radiant barriers in attics?

In hot climates, benefits of attic radiant barriers include both energy savings and increased comfort.

LO/MIT Radiant Barrier Spray is a silver colored low-E (low emissivity) coating applied to the underside of your roof decking inside the attic.

Radiant heat accounts for 93% of the heat gain in your home. LO/MIT radiant barrier spray stops the majority of the sun's heat from ever entering the Attic.

LO/MIT produces the lowest emissivity available in sprayed radiant barrier products; 0.24 or less when applied to roof decking. This means LO/MIT blocks at least 76% of the radiant heat trying to enter your attic.

LO/MIT does not trap water (like some Latex based coatings) so you need not worry about mold problems.

LO/MIT is an Energy Star Product. ENERGY STAR is the symbol for energy efficiency, as designated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
